One of the oldest known materials known and used by mankind (Flax) Linen is now one of the newest and fastest emerging bast fibers being used in biocomposite manufacturing.
It is most exciting that this marvelous plant has so much potential for so many uses.Where a tree takes several years to mature enough to use for producing the material we need to produce the goods we use Flax grows from planting to maturity in 100 days. The plant is pulled out of the ground because the roots as well as the above ground plant is used.
The Flax plant that provides us with such valuable and essential products including its seed as a food supplement, Linseed oil and it’s fiber. Flax is experiencing a phenomenal expansion and rebirth in the creation of products ranging from automobiles to acoustic musical instruments sporting equipment architectural and a host of other applications as well as the traditional clothing bed and table linens.
Throughout posts on this blog I will try to highlight new and emerging trends and applications in the use of Flax. The primary purpose of this blog though is to showcase the items I am producing and providing to others to further my research and development.
My first project in incorporating flax was combining Flax with Bamboo to create Bamboo composite Fishing Fly rods. The rods I create are based on the vintage Bamboo fly rods made in the early 1930’s. http://bamboocompositerods.blogspot.com/

To introduce and encourage others to consider using products made from ecologically sustainable bio composites I will make you a custom Flute. You may have a favorite article of clothing, perhaps a suit, dress, shirt, slacks etc that are beginning to be to worn to keep using but have sentimental value. I will combine your article of clothing with Flax biocomposites and create a one of a kind beautiful flute that will be an heirloom that will last a lifetime.
